Subway Sandwiches is holding a creative writing contest where winners can win athletic equipment, gift baskets and Subway cards. The problem is they are excluding home schoolers from entering the contest. Are they afraid that home schooled children will have too much of an advantage? Judging by the spelling errors in their ad the writers are obviously products of government schools. They could learn a thing or two from home schooled children.

Hubris, greed, and just plain stupidity is bringing down the once great Delta Air Lines, Good Riddance!

The can do no right, once great airline, now sinking ship, is offering over 30,000 employees (over half it's workforce), severance packages to bail out early, in an attempt to save the skins of arrogant executives and greedy pilots. They say they need to trim several thousand jobs to stay in the air. Delta emerged from bankruptcy last year but they still have never shirked the culture of arrogance that shot them down in the first place. Talking away jobs (Mine for one) did not stop them from going bankrupt and will not stop them from crashing into oblivion. Delta Air Lines, the once great carrier, will soon go the way of Braniff, Eastern, Western, and many others in the trash heap of history, right where it belongs. Fuel prices hurt, but the fact it is one of the most bloated, and bureaucratic organizations outside of the IRS, along with arrogant management and greedy pilots is what truly brought it down. Good riddance and I hope the good employees can find other jobs, As for the executives and pilots I pray for any unsuspecting company that has the misfortune of hiring any of these idiots.

Delta to offer voluntary severance payouts to 30,000 employees; further cut US capacity

Delta Air Lines, faced with a weak economy, dimmer hopes of a combination with Northwest Airlines and record fuel prices that are eating up profits, said Tuesday it will offer voluntary severance payouts to roughly 30,000 employees -- more than half its work force - and cut U.S. capacity by an extra 5 percent.

Executives at Atlanta-based Delta said in a memo to employees that the airline's goal is to cut 2,000 frontline, administrative and management jobs through the severance program, attrition and other initiatives.
